The B.Arch. programme at Mody University encompasses sociological, cultural and ecological aspects of architecture and design pertaining to building projects.

The drawing and writing skills of students are honed to enable them to manifest the explorations of their artistic instincts.

The rigorous curriculum, including preparing research papers, designing thesis, and organising seminars, sharpens their strategic acumen which stands them in good stead.

The students are also sent for internships during which they work on various projects with seasoned professionals to gain the valuable experience and apprise themselves with the utilitarian side of the profession.

After acquiring the degree, students can either start working as a professional (in architectural firms or freelancing) with both public and private entities, or can opt for higher studies to expand their academic horizon.

Bachelor of Design (Interior Design)

Bachelor of Design (Interior Design) a degree program at Mody University is designed to develop student’s creativity, analytical skills, critical thinking and overall intellectual development. The program develops the skills and knowledge necessary for responsible professional in rapidly globalizing building and construction industry. During the four years students are introduced to state-of- art technology in our well equipped Computer Labs and workshops under the guidance of well experienced faculty.

The course objectives also includes a study of Indian and international contemporary society, its influences and evolving values of our society, arts and crafts of different regions, resources in terms of materials & skills and ever changing tools for thinking and expression.

This course prepares students for a variety of responsibilities for the design and building industry for projects such as, residential interior, corporate offices, commercial fit outs and set designing etc. Being located in the middle of the internationally recognized architectural heritage area of the country, the College will also incorporate an intensive program on conservation, restoration and re adaptation of existing buildings.

​Interior Designers work in multi-disciplinary firms engaged in the design and construction industry, retail, theatre, exhibition design, set design, interaction design, gaming and virtual environments.

Bachelors in Design (Fashion Design)

Four-Year Degree Programme

The BFD Programme is designed for aspiring artists and designers, who will be imparted design practice and training in their fields of interest.

The curriculum offers to the students’ specialized practice and varied explorations to harness the existing as well as nascent disciplines.

The programme encapsulates the creative and technical nuances of apparel design process.

The students acquire skills in the realms of apparel construction techniques, flat pattern design, material exploration, draping, textile study, fashion illustration and portfolio

development.

We keep them abreast of newfangled trends related to fabrics, trims, designs, colors, styles and cuts, thus creating an astute sense of color, texture and pattern along with a keen eye for observation in fashion-related sphere.

In the first year of the programme, CFDM encourages an exploratory approach, giving the student design foundation courses, in a critically creative environment to begin defining their own creative practice.

The second and third year of the curriculum mainly concentrate on the core modules of Men’s, Women’s and Children’s Wear and related modules.

This is followed by in-plant training in the seventh semester which gives the students opportunity to work in real-life situation applying what they have learnt in the previous three years.

The students then return with rich practical industry experiences to work on their graduating collection in the eighth semester.

Keeping in mind that a Fashion Designer’s job comprises creating original clothing designs to cater to target markets, the programme prepares students for an exciting career in design for fashion, designer labels, apparel companies,retail brands, clothing manufacturers and the art/craft sector.

They can also take up further studies in fashion or specialize further in related areas.

Bachelors in Design (Fashion and Merchandising)

Four-Year Degree programme
This Programme combines the practical components of design and product development with business skills. It is ideal for students who are more interested in the management and retail side of the industry, freelance and independent designers or aspire to become entrepreneurs.

The programme is designed to gain an understanding in merchandising operations from the industry perspective, along with basics of fashion elements and principles, technical and constructional aspects of apparels, fabric and trim study.

The curriculum offers to the students’ specialized skills in the area of design principles, forecasting, consumer behaviors, product development, merchandising strategy, buying sourcing, planning, costing and pricing apparel production and quality systems, forecasts, trends, visual merchandising and sales. Emphasis is placed on soft goods and fashion-driven products.

The Programme consists of first year as foundation wherein some courses are common with BFD students to understand elements and principles of fashion, cultural and historical studies, materials and basic of pattern making and stitching apparels.

The separate courses cover basics of business, market study and research, analyzing market trends, ability to recognize future trends and good communication which comes in handy during negotiations. In-plant training in the seventh semester provides students with real life experience of Fashion Merchandising and an opportunity to apply their learning of the first three years. Students then return with rich and practical knowledge from the industry to work on their Graduating Project.

This programme prepares students for exciting career for the Apparel Industry as merchandiser in buying agencies, apparel manufacturers, fashion houses, and export companies. They can also progress into a Master’s Programme and go for further specialization.

Master in Design (Fashion Design)

Two-Year Masters in Design (Fashion Design)
This programme instills a holistic and all-encompassing approach in students in regards to fashion designing and beyond which enables them to push the envelope and break new grounds. Retaining our heritage and specialization in either Women’s wear or Men’s wear or Children’s wear the programme combines industry standards with a creative and contemporary approach to fashion design.

Advanced technical, design, research and market knowledge will support the students to meet the challenges in fashion industry. It is a unique and innovative programme combining creative thinking of the design school’s core modules with a very solid and creative fashion industry focus on graduation.

The students’ main strength will be the ability to develop drawings and research into trends, while remaining true to the fashion concept with quality being maintained from research stage to the finished product along with awareness of and competency in production costs as well.

Training pathway will cover all elements of the creative process, vision, the research, the sketches, colors, textiles, cost evaluation, prototypes and collections in selected category.

The fashion based modules will encourage students to think creatively and will also challenge her to apply her ideas and concepts to a series of briefs, some of which will arrive directly from various industry sources and practitioners. The outcome is non-prescriptive and would be driven by their ambitions and approach to fashion.

They will get an opportunity to have Internship in the fourth semester wherein they will work closely with the design team at the industry on a project, which is documented and presented at the University.

With a Masters in specialized field, designers become highly sought-after professionals in the world of fashion. Such individuals can work for private labels or work alongside agencies, design studios or consulting agencies. They can work as a product manager and manage production, or they can become an entrepreneur, academician, mid-level manager in export houses, designer labels and brands or proceed further for a Doctoral Programme.

Master in Design (Fashion Merchandising)

Two-Year Master in Design (Fashion Merchandising)
This Programme aims to give participants the opportunity to further develop their acquired skills through a transversal analytical approach of the Fashion System and an experiential didactic method that combines theory to practice. Mixing communication and creative skills with an in-depth and strategic approach, this master programme involves extensive knowledge of the cultural, historical, sociological and economic components of the fashion system as well as forecasting of trends in the specific target market.

It is designed to impart understanding of Fashion Merchandising through understanding of fashion product, product development, research and trends forecast, fabrics and trims, costing and pricing, apparel production and quality systems, global sourcing strategies, vender social,  technical compliance and team management. Emphasis is placed on Fashion apparels and fashion accessories.

Fashion Merchandisers combine creative skills with marketing expertise to determine product direction in sourcing and manufacturing, here both fashion and business skills are required along with understanding of garment construction, costing and fabric sourcing.

First year of the programme introduces concepts and principles of fashion merchandising and marketing and visual merchandising with focus on fashion business. The students then proceed for eight week fashion industry internship and training programme, which enables them to integrate classroom learning with practical experience.

In the second year the emphasis is on application of knowledge, understanding skills acquired in the first year. The students pursue live projects from areas of their interest like traditional art and crafts, industry project, NGO’s research project, Brands’ research or survey projects, this helps them to get the insights into regional sensibilities and diversities. They also undertake company sponsored graduation research projects to apply their previous year’s learning.

This programme prepares students for existing career in mid-management level at export houses, designer labels and buying firms in the apparel industry. They can also opt for entrepreneurship, free-lance consultancy service, academics or go for further studies.

P.G. Diploma in Fashion Merchandising

One Year Diploma in Fashion Merchandising
This programme aims to give students an opportunity to further ramp their acquired skills in various streams of their graduation in the fashion business, apparel production and sourcing.

It is designed to impart understanding of Fashion Merchandising through fashion product, product development, research and trends forecast, fabrics and trims, costing and pricing, apparel production and quality systems, global sourcing strategies, vender social, strategic approach, and involves extensive knowledge of the cultural, historical, sociological and economic components of the fashion system as well as understanding of trends in the specific target market.

They are sent for eight weeks internship in the Fashion Industry to gain practical knowledge in the areas of their interest.

This programme prepares the students to work as merchandisers in apparel houses, export agencies, buying firms or to become entrepreneurs.
