Tanya Bansal, Winner, A-Design Awards 2014-15,Italy

Tanya Bansal (FD 2011-15) has won at A’ Design Awards and Competition, Italy under the Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design category for her submission The Bride Sustainable Fashion.She is also a winner of ‘The People’s Choice Award’ at DLF EMPORIO DESIGN AWARDS 2014-15

Wills Debut Awards – Gaurav Goel

Marking a victory at Wills Lifestyle’s ‘The Debut’, our student Gaurav Goel bagged the title trophy at the grand finale held at New Delhi. Gaurav won the 8th edition of the competition and received a sponsored trip to UK for a befitting course at the London School of Fashion. This prestigious award has been won by Pearl Academy students for the last 6 years.

Shinny Jain Bronze Winner – The Creative Conscience Awards 2014, UK Category – Fashion & Textile

Shinny Jain has won one more accolade for her project ‘Last Errors of Plastic’ – Bronze award at ‘The Creative Conscience Awards 2014′, UK. Her project deals with sustainability by creating garments through weaving recycled plastic from biscuit and crisp packets in order to highlight recyclability of the plastic they are made from. It also gives materials usually dumped in landfill a new life, as well as generating employment for women in India. Shinny went to UK to attend the awards ceremony and came back victorious with another feather in her cap.

Surbhi Mittal at World Innovative Forum 2013, Mexico

Our student, Surbhi Mittal represented India at World Innovation Forum in Mexico this year. The World Innovation Forum – the largest global forum on innovation – is organised by Laureate International Universities’ Laureate Live programme. She was most excited to participate in the two day conference at Poliforum, Leon. The eminent speakers at the event talked about the vitality of new ideas and constant innovation. She came back to India with an important life-long learning – ‘An idea is where innovation begins and it should be considered sincerely irrespective of its craziness.’

 

Reliance Trends Designer Hunt – Nidhi Sandal

Clinched first prize at ‘Reliance Trends Designer Hunt – 2013’ contest and got an opportunity to Design Fall Winter’14 collection for Reliance Trends which will be sold as a co-branded label across India exclusively at all Reliance Trends stores. The contest was run in institutes other than Pearl Academy and entries were shortlisted from their campuses. The founder of the brand Bisou Bisou and a renowned International designer Michele Bohbot visited Pearl Academy along with the Reliance Trends Design & Merchandising Team.

Divya Malik at World Business Forum 2013, NY

Divya was the only one selected at Pearl Academy by the Laureate International Universities (LIU) to attend the World Business Forum (WBF) on the 1st and 2nd of October 2013 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. WBF is an annual forum on business which is attended by over 5000 people. This forum included eminent world leaders and industry experts like Jeb Bush, Jack Welsch, Gordon Brown and many more who delivered lectures on global issues and on leadership and innovation. Divya’s presentation was also chosen as the best one among all the twenty projects by the students at WBF.

Clinton Global Initiative, USA

Vasudha Jindal, student of IAD course has been invited to participate in the Clinton Global Initiative, scheduled for March 21-23 in Arizona, USA. The mission of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) is to turn ideas into action. Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), an initiative of the Clinton Foundation, convenes global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. The CGI was impressed with her project – to increase the use of cloth “furoshiki bags” and reduce reliance on plastic bags in India. This is aligned with CGI-U’s core interest in environment/climate change – and, potentially, poverty alleviation and public health. Vasudha would be attending the show along with other delegation of impressive students from Laureate institutions around the world. She will join a network of emerging and established leaders in business, government, politics, and society who can support important work.

Pallav Choudhary , Winner – Made in India Competition

Talented Pallav’s idea of contemporary handcraft design ‘Simplicity with a Touch of Anarchism’ brought home winner’s trophy of Made in India Competition by BE OPEN Foundation. He also won a cash prize of USD 1500. Pallav designed a Scarf collection of dyed fabrics that reflected and resembled the beauty and purity of Pangong Lake in Pangong Tso, his inspiration for this collection. Each scarf is unique hand dyed piece of fabric, which has been delicately folded, resisted and dyed. Earlier in the year, Pallav had also presented a handcrafted scarf to none other than Condoleezza Rice, former US secretary of state, during her visit to India.
