The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has announced the dates for HSC and SSC examination. The HSC exams will be held from February 18 to March 18 next year and SSC exams will be held between March 3 and 23. The board has also started the registration process. The last date to enrol for the examination is October 23.

For this year’s exam, the board has revised the examination pattern for all the subjects and has introduced changes in the design of question paper and evaluation scheme. For instance, the 20 marks internal assessment for SSC exams, which was excluded in last year’s board exams, has been reinstated.

Last year, the board had scrapped the internal assessment scheme for students of Class IX and X. However, the decision had an adverse effect on results with a dip of about 12 per cent in the overall pass percentage. This year, written exams will be of 80 marks with 20 marks for internal assessment. Of these 20, 5 marks will be assigned to listening skills, another 5 marks will be kept for oratory skills and the remaining 10 marks will be allocated to subject-related activities. Meanwhile, as per the revised evaluation scheme, board has decided to add 25 per cent objective questions in the HSC exam question paper.

The time-table is yet to be released. “The board has announced the schedule six months in advance to make it easier for students to plan their course and reduce stress,” the press release read. It, however, advised students not to follow any time-table received through social media.
